Yooperlite is a unique and visually stunning variety of sodalite-rich syenite rocks found primarily around the Great Lakes region, particularly in Michigan's Upper Peninsula, hence the name derived from "Yooper" which refers to residents of Michigan's Upper Peninsula. This rock gained popularity and intrigue due to its ability to fluoresce under ultraviolet (UV) light.
